Alameda Corridor-East

Client: Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority
Project location: Los Angeles, California
Project cost: $100 million
DMJM Harris provided conceptual, preliminary, and final design, as well as engineering support during construction for this intermodal freight project. Continuing our previously successful assignment for the Alameda Corridor, the focus of the Alameda Corridor-East project is to grade separate existing at-grade crossings to facilitate freight movement and enhance vehicular and pedestrian safety.
DMJM Harris’s design provided for maintenance of vehicular through traffic throughout construction, and it addressed rail operations, extensive utility coordination, and access to businesses during construction. DMJM Harris was responsible for five grade separations including: Nogales Street (Alhambra Subdivision), Brea Canyon Road, Ramona Boulevard, Nogales Street (L.A. Subdivision), and Baldwin Avenue.
DMJM Harris provided traffic management plans, bridge and retaining wall design, extensive utility coordination, landscaping design, traffic signals, pump stations, detour roads, roadway and site design, sewer relocations and storm drainage systems. DMJM Harris coordinated the design with several involved stakeholders, including cities, railroads, utilities, and other third parties.
