As a subconsultant, DMJM Harris is providing conceptual and preliminary engineering design for the Northern/Canoga Extension of the Metro Orange Line bus rapid transit (BRT) system. The goal of the project is to environmentally clear and complete preliminary engineering of a five- to six-mile northern extension of the Metro Orange Line busway and an adjacent bikeway.
As part of conceptual engineering and further refining the locally preferred alternative, DMJM Harris is evaluating alignment and station variations, preparing the comparative analysis, supporting environmental impact analyses, and providing accurate cost estimating. The project will be designed in accordance with the Authority’s BRT Design Criteria, which also considers potential future conversion to light rail. As part of this project, DMJM Harris will review and make recommendations to improve the BRT design criteria based on the team’s technical expertise and lessons learned from the initial operations of the Orange Line. The design will incorporate any updates to the criteria.
