Mid-City/Exposition Light Rail Transit

Client: Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA)
Project location: Los Angeles, California
Project cost: $631 million
The LACMTA selected DMJM Harris to provide complete engineering design for the Mid-City/Exposition Light Rail Transit (LRT) project for this 9.6-mile line that will extend from downtown Los Angeles to Culver City and may be constructed in phases with a minimum operable segment to at least Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles.
LACMTA owns the abandoned railroad right-of-way, which runs parallel to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10)—one of the most heavily used and congested freeways in the nation. The implementation of transit services on this right-of-way will relieve the heavily burdened Wilshire Corridor. The Mid-City/Exposition Light Rail Transit project will include seven new stations and upgrades to three existing stations, providing a total of ten stations for the length of the route. The alignment will be primarily at-grade with two grade-separations at La Cienega and La Brea Boulevards.
