Pier 300 On-Dock Rail Interchange Station

Client: Port of Los Angeles
Project location: Los Angeles, California
Project cost: $35 million
DMJM Harris managed and engineered a major container transfer facility with associated access roads and rail leads for the Port of Los Angeles, Pier 300 on Terminal Island. We prepared a preliminary study report and final design plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) for these improvements and provided construction engineering services including review of contractors’ and manufacturers’ submittals and response to requests for information (RFI).
We also provided computer simulation of intermodal throughput capacity; detailed simulation of combined marine and rail container handling equipment operations; simulation analysis of peak working and storage track demand; demand for switching capacity in response to a range of Global Alliance ship deployments; and analysis of dynamic container storage demand in the terminal’s dedicated intermodal storage area.
